OPERATION MILLENNIAL

National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force

Operaton Millennial

Located in Pooler, a suburb of Savannah, The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force aims to preserve the stories of courage, character and patriotism displayed by the men and women of the Eighth Air Force from World War II to the present. At the museum, you’ll hear the unforgettable stories of bravery, experience a bomber mission and briefing, and see the ongoing restoration of the World War II B-17 Flying Fortress. The museum offers large group tours for people of all ages, and tours are often conducted by WWII Veterans.

We were asked to created concepts that would make the museum more relevant to Millennials (both locals and tourists) and viable for future generations by connecting with them, using the channels they prefer (social media), and capturing their imagination. (Millennials: Also known as Gen Y, were born between the early 1980s and mid 2000s.)

Our first goal was to discover more about the museum and it’s offerings. We gamified our methods to make it fun for everyone.

During the second session we presented research findings and made them tangible through personas and journey maps. We framed the strategic problems before using generative methods to ideate solutions with out clients.

After a presentation of solutions to the problem to museum leadership, we used a decision matrix to help them choose the most innovative, useful and feasible concepts.

At our final meeting we discussed practices that would make the implementation of the service concepts successful, and the outcomes that could be expected.
